Jameka Reese Character is a seasoned leader and entrepreneur with more than 25 years of experience in the public and not-for-profit sectors. Recently retired from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), she served as Deputy Director of the CDC’s WorkLife Wellness Office, where she spearheaded strategic planning efforts, cultivated partnerships, and led operational realignment initiatives. Her work played a pivotal role in aligning organizational priorities with agency-wide goals, fostering collaboration among executive leadership, and refining wellness strategies for a healthier workplace culture.

Driven by her love for holiday décor and hosting, Jameka launched JRee Designs, a luxury lifestyle brand built on three pillars: opulent holiday design, expert hosting guidance, and modern etiquette coaching. From intimate dinners to grand seasonal soirées, she helps clients curate unforgettable experiences rooted in style and substance.

Jameka is a 2025 recipient of the Joe Biden Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award. She is a proud and active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., having served in leadership roles such as Chair of the Gwinnett County Alumnae Chapter’s Cotillion/Beautillion. She is the lead for the inaugural Delta Academy program – a leadership development program for young girls - with the Fayette County Alumnae Chapter. Her passion for community extends through service; she lends her expertise to numerous other civic organizations across her region.
